BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Hershiser Shoulder Shows No Ill Effect
Orel Hershiser said his right shoulder felt “great” Tuesday, one day after throwing 68 pitches at Albuquerque in his second rehabilitation start.
Although he would not confirm it, Hershiser might be only two rehabilitation starts from joining the Dodgers during the series with Houston May 27-29.
“I could need three or four minor league starts, I don’t know,” Hershiser said. “I know that I can’t go to the major leagues with 68 pitches. When I reach 87, 88 or 92, then I will be ready.”
His next start will be announced today.
A source close to Fernando Valenzuela said he has entered into contract talks with the Angels, the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants and could sign a contract soon.
