A 30-year-old woman died Tuesday night when she was struck by two cars as she attempted to cross Interstate 15 north of California 52, the CHP reported.

Officer Jim Anderson of the California Highway Patrol said Vicky Lynn Guhde, 30, of Southeast San Diego was killed after being struck by two cars when she “bolted across (the road) for some reason.” The accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Anderson said Guhde and her sister Verna Welch, 33, where coming from a bar, where they had been drinking with Welch’s boyfriend. Guhde apparently argued in the car and Welch’s boyfriend, who was driving, pulled over to the side of the road and let the women out.

The women were walking along the right shoulder of the road when Guhde tried to cross the road toward the center divider, Anderson said. She was struck by a van going about 55 m.p.h. and driven by Gail Gilman, 29, of La Mesa. The CHP said Gilman was unable to avoid Guhde.

A second car, driven by Marguerite Nelson, 45, of El Cajon, also struck Guhde, the CHP said. That car also was not able to avoid hitting the woman.
