A 16-year-old Canoga Park youth was arrested Wednesday in the fatal stabbing of a rival gang member last weekend, Los Angeles police said.

The victim, Vladimir Alexandro Herrera, 18, of Van Nuys, succumbed to multiple stab wounds in the chest at Northridge Hospital Medical Center about 5 a.m. Saturday, after he was involved in a fight in the 6700 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue in Van Nuys, Detective James Vojtecky said. Witnesses, including alleged members of Herrera’s gang, led police to the teen-ager, who was arrested at his parents’ home Wednesday, Vojtecky said.

The youth, whose name was not released, was being held without bail at Sylmar Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder. He is expected to be arraigned Friday.
