Kerry Knox pitched a seven-inning no-hitter for the Padres’ double-A team Friday night as Wichita beat Tulsa, 1-0, in the second game of a doubleheader.

Knox (1-1) struck out seven, walked two and retired the final 13 batters. The closest Tulsa came to getting a hit was in the fifth inning when Luke Sable hit a grounder to deep short that Joe Valentin backhanded and threw to first in time.

Knox, a 6-foot left-hander who was selected in the 18th round of the June 1989 draft, was 11-12 last season pitching for Class-A Riverside and 8-3 the year before in Class-A Spokane.
