HUNTINGTON BEACH —
A 22-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run tow truck driver who left a trail of blood from his own injury as he left the scene on foot Saturday afternoon, police said.
The woman, identified as Caroline M. Reinach of Huntington Beach, was broadsided by the tow truck after she had stopped at a stop sign on Edwards Street and started to turn north onto Varsity Drive about 4 p.m.
Huntington Beach police used a helicopter and a canine unit in an attempt to locate the driver, but were unsuccessful.
