AMA on National Health Plan

Share

A. Rogers of Chatsworth thinks the time has come for a change in health insurance (letter, April 25) and wants the AMA and others to answer the need. The AMA and the California Medical Assn. (CMA) both sponsor plans to reform health insurance. The AMA’s is called “Health Access America” and the CMA’s is called “Affordable Basic Care,” or ABC. These plans are sensible, affordable and would provide basic health care to the vast majority of those who now lack health coverage.

The plans could be enacted now if our Congress or our state Legislature could somehow be galvanized into action. Those who want to do something about the serious problem of the medically uninsured should contact their elected representatives in Washington and Sacramento.
