UC Riverside Wins to Stay Alive, 16-4
UC Riverside scored eight runs in the fifth inning and six in the sixth, routing Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 16-4, Wednesday in an elimination game of the NCAA Division II College World Series at Montgomery, Ala.
Third baseman Ruben Ayala had four hits and drove in three runs for the Highlanders. Ayala is leading the double-elimination tournament in hitting with a .769 average (10 for 13).
Third-seeded UC Riverside (37-24-1) plays second-seeded Jacksonville State (39-11) in an elimination game today.
