BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Winfield Has Homered in Them All

Dave Winfield, who tied for the team lead with his eighth home run Wednesday, also has the distinction of having hit a homer in every existing major league stadium plus three that are no longer in use.

Besides the current 26, Winfield homered in the old Comiskey Park, Exhibition Stadium in Toronto and Jarry Park in Montreal. The only park he played in and didn’t hit a homer was Metropolitan Stadium in Minnesota. He played only two games there in the strike-shortened 1981 season, the Twins’ last season in Bloomington before moving to the Metrodome.

However, his Angel teammate, Dave Parker, is the only active player who has homered against every major league team. Winfield never victimized the Padres.

Luis Polonia’s 0-for-14 slump over three-plus games is his longest since he was acquired by the Angels in April of 1990. He was rested against left-hander Greg Hibbard Wednesday. . . . The Angels’ sixth consecutive errorless game left them two short of the club record. . . . Scott Lewis, whose turn in the rotation was skipped Wednesday, will pitch Saturday at Toronto. . . . Lance Parrish has five hits in 48 at-bats. Junior Felix, however, is 20 for 50 in his past 14 games.

White Sox Manager Jeff Torborg said Bo Jackson is off crutches, which Jackson has been using since his hip injury was diagnosed.
