* Out of Bounds: President Bush’s son Neil was disqualified from a tennis tournament in Denver over the weekend for playing in a bracket that was too easy for him. Bush, rated 5.5, trounced opponents in a bracket for 4.5-rated players. A tournament spokesman said: “Someone officially protested and after a review, he was disqualified . . . . It’s the player’s responsibility. He blew it.” Bush, who is battling in court over his role in a failed savings and loan, could not be reached for comment.

* Just a Little Party: David Rockefeller Jr. and about 200 friends, dignitaries and scientists are sailing around Alaska in four 44-foot sloops in a series of excursions this spring and summer to celebrate Rockefeller’s 50th birthday. The New York philanthropist and education reformer said he invited leaders in education, science, finance, medicine, the environment, politics and the arts along for informal talks. Rockefeller is the son of retired banker David Rockefeller and nephew of former Vice President Nelson Rockefeller.

* Hopes High: Dr. Jonas Salk, who created the first approved polio vaccine in the 1950s, said in Tampa, Fla., he hopes to have a vaccine for AIDS, but can’t say when. “I know everyone’s impatient, I know the sense of urgency. But we’re trying to do something that’s never been done before,” said Salk, 76, who is directing a multinational team to develop the vaccine at his Salk Institute in La Jolla.
