Santa Monica : No. 20 for P.S. No. 1
P.S. No. 1, a small private school in Santa Monica, celebrates its 20th anniversary on Sunday with the mayor, a carnival and exhibits of school memorabilia.
The school, whose initials stand for Pluralistic School, has about 90 students who are grouped by two-year age ranges rather than in traditional grades. Community service and parent involvement are stressed. The students, for example, bring extra bag lunches each week and deliver them to a homeless shelter.
The anniversary celebration will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the school, 1447 Euclid St., Santa Monica.
