BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES
Cincinnati shortstop Barry Larkin and second baseman Bill Doran will be activated from the 15-day disabled in time for Tuesday night’s game against the New York Mets, the Reds announced. Larkin has been out since May 18 with a strained nerve in his right elbow. It was the same elbow he injured in 1989 during the skills competition that preceded the All-Star Game--an ailment that kept him out of the starting lineup the rest of the season. Doran has been out since May 13 with a disk inflamation in his lower back.
