Two juveniles have been cited on suspicion of starting a fire that gutted an Oxnard house, causing more than $150,000 worth of damage, authorities said Tuesday.

The juveniles were cited on suspicion of trespassing and reckless burning in connection with the fire that began shortly before midnight Saturday in a vacant house in the 2700 block of Daffodil Court, Oxnard Fire Investigator Kevin Schroepfer said. They are in the custody of their parents, he said.

“It appears that they didn’t intend to burn the house down,” Schroepfer said.

It took 22 firefighters 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze. No one was injured in the fire, authorities said.
