Jack Fertig, a former Washington State assistant coach under George Raveling, has been hired as an assistant coach under Raveling at USC, the school announced.
Fertig, 42, replaces Brian Hammel, who left in May after seven years as an assistant under Raveling, five at USC, to become the head coach at Northern Illinois. Fertig is no relation to former USC football standout and administrator Craig Fertig.
