Long Beach : Street Barricades Can’t Be Permanent, Attorney Says
The temporary barricades on portions of St. Louis and Henderson avenues can remain for another 30 days, but after that they may have to come down.
Erected to create cul-de-sacs and thus prevent drug dealers from using the streets for their business, the barricades can only be temporary, City Atty. John R. Calhoun warned the Long Beach City Council this week.
The council on Tuesday extended the use of the barricades at St. Louis Avenue and 8th Street, in the east side, and Henderson and 19th Street in central Long Beach.
But Calhoun told the council that the barricades cannot become a permanent fixture unless officials order a traffic survey and an environmental study, among other things.
