The financially strapped Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District was presented with a $440,000 check at a school board meeting Monday by Peninsula Education Foundation President Steven Kuykendall.
The amount, representing a yearlong fund-raising effort by the 10-year-old organization, is $40,000 more than the group has ever collected from the Palos Verdes community, Kuykendall told the board. The organization has given the school district more than $2.6 million over the past decade.
Kuykendall said the money helps fund library, writing, classroom and computer programs.
