Share

An Oxnard man hallucinating while under the influence of PCP went on a rampage in a co-worker’s apartment Thursday morning before he was brought under control by eight police officers, two ambulance attendants and a fire crew, authorities said.

Jesus Pantoja, 25, arrived at the female co-worker’s apartment in the 1600 block of West 5th Street about 5 a.m. and knocked on the door, yelling that someone was following him, Oxnard Police Sgt. Jamie Skeeters said.

The woman, whose name was not available from police, opened the door. Pantoja burst inside and immediately began taking off his clothes, continuing to yell that someone was following him, the woman told police.

When police arrived, Pantoja had removed all of his clothing and was in the process of destroying the apartment, breaking furniture with his fists, feet and body and hurling himself through windows, severely cutting himself, Skeeters said.

The man reportedly assaulted the officers before being subdued. Several officers were slightly bruised in the scuffle. The woman was not injured.

Pantoja was booked in Ventura County Jail and charged with being under the influence of a restricted dangerous drug, with bail set at $5,000. He is in custody in the jail’s infirmary.
