For the first time since 1983, two unbeaten teams will meet for the College World Series title when Wichita State plays Louisiana State today at Omaha.

Wichita State (66-12) and Louisiana State (54-18) are both 3-0 in the tournament. Winners of the two brackets in the modified double-elimination tournament did not go unbeaten in the three previous years of the current format.

Wichita State has championship game experience. The Shockers lost in the 1982 final to Miami (Fla.), but won the title in 1989, beating Texas. This is LSU’s first appearance in the title game.
