BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Presley Cut, Hammaker Recalled

The San Diego Padres released infielder Jim Presley and recalled pitcher Atlee Hammaker from their triple-A Phoenix farm club. The left-handed Hammaker is 59-66 in 10 major leagues seasons, most of them with the San Francisco Giants. Presley was hitting .136 with one home run and five RBIs and had lost the starting third base job to Scott Coolbaugh.
