Bill Shoemaker has been weaned from the ventilator that was used to assist his breathing since his crippling automobile accident April 8, a statement from Craig Hospital in Denver announced.
The statement said Shoemaker had been breathing on his own for the past week and the jockey now has feeling in his left arm to his left thumb, but there is still no movement in his arms and legs.
