The Lakers announced Thursday that they have signed James Worthy to a contract extension.

No terms were announced.

The deal is thought to take the 30-year-old Worthy through 1995-96, with a balloon payment in the last season, raising his average annual salary above $3 million.

Currently, Sam Perkins is the highest-paid Laker at $3.2 million, with Magic Johnson next at $3.1 million.
