Two Oxnard brothers were injured in a drive-by shooting Friday afternoon near Gonzales Road and Oxnard Boulevard, police said.

Jose Ramirez, 20, and his brother, Carlos, 14, were traveling north on Oxnard Boulevard about 3:30 p.m. when several males in another car driving alongside fired shots into their car, Oxnard Police Sgt. Frank Porter said.

Jose Ramirez was wounded on his right arm and Carlos was shot in the left shoulder, Lt. Robert Kelley said.

The brothers were treated and released Friday evening at St. John’s RegionalMedical Center, Nursing Supervisor Lore Thebiay said. Police were not able to locate any witnesses, Porter said.

After the shooting, the brothers apparently drove about a mile before stopping near the Jack-in-the-Box at 2580 Vineyard Ave. The restaurant manager, who asked not to be identified, said the older brother came into the restaurant and asked that employees call 911.

“He just said, ‘Please call an ambulance,’ ” the manager said.

Police would not say whether the shooting may have been gang-related. Porter said no arrests had been made as of Friday evening.
