Lobbyist Who Fought Motorcycle Helmet Law Found Shot to Death
A longtime lobbyist for motorcyclists who fought a decade-long battle against California’s safety helmet law was found shot to death in his suburban home, police reported.
Detectives said the body of Ronald R. Roloff, 51, past president of the Modified Motorcycle Assn., was discovered late Thursday.
Roloff apparently had been dead since sometime after 4 p.m. Wednesday, said Deputy Coroner Richard Miles.
Police said Roloff’s Corvette Stingray had been left overnight with the keys in the ignition and the top down. It was parked outside the house with three other cars, a motor home and two boats that neighbors said belonged to Roloff.
Roloff was the MMA business manager. He fought against bills such as the one signed last month by Gov. Pete Wilson requiring California motorcycle riders to wear helmets.
