BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Hershiser Getting Weary in This Respect
A month into his comeback from shoulder surgery, Orel Hershiser has tired of questions concerning his pitching arm.
After throwing six shutout innings Friday and being asked the usual postgame questions, Hershiser said impatiently: “I feel like everything’s fine. It’s not really a health question anymore. I’m getting tired of talking about it. Any questions about the game?”
Today’s 2 p.m. game with the Cardinals is sold out. The annual old-timers game will be played earlier, with introductions of about 40 former Dodgers--including Hall of Famers Duke Snider, Don Drysdale and Roy Campanella--beginning at 12:15.
Outfielder Brett Butler turned 34 Saturday. . . . Half of Eddie Murray’s 20 walks this season have been intentional. . . . Kal Daniels’ second-inning single gave him a season-high six-game hitting streak. . . . Entering Saturday’s game, Dodger starters had thrown at least six innings in 13 consecutive games. Over the past 11 games, the starters have an earned-run average of 1.63.
