Baja Resort Offers 15% Discount

The Grand Baja Resort, a new 60-unit condo rental resort in Puerto Nuevo, Baja California, is offering mature travelers a summer discount of 10% to 25%.

The resort is on the ocean 10 miles south of Rosarita Beach and 35 miles south of San Diego. Its furnished units accommodate four to eight and range in price from $60 to $150. Rates are per room, not per person. The highest rates are for the weekend, which includes Friday.

Discounts for travelers 55 and over are 25% off the weekday rates, 10% off weekends. The rates are in effect until Sept. 15.

All units include kitchenettes (furnished except for food and beverages), satellite TV, phones and daily mail service. The resort has a swimming pool, children’s playground and two tennis courts free for guest use.

There is also free shuttle service for nearby shopping and dining. The fishing village of Puerto Nuevo has more than a dozen restaurants that serve fresh lobster. The Newport Grand Baja Hotel and many of the restaurants are within walking distance.

Grand Circle Travel, which caters strictly to mature travelers, has formed a new Last-Minute Cruise Club for its members. The company says club members will be able to learn for free of the many cruise deals and discounts as soon as they are announced by the major cruise lines.

The concept is not unique: Similar services are available and many travel and cruise-only agents are aware of the last-minute discounts that cruise lines offer to fill out sailings.
