COUNTYWIDE : Names Sought for 2 ‘Freeway Foxes’
The county is sponsoring a contest to name two of the “freeway foxes,” a pair of 6-month-old pups who now reside at the Orange County Zoo in Irvine Regional Park.
Participants are asked to submit one name for either of the two foxes, and two winners will be selected. The prize is a one-year pass for free admission to Orange County harbor, beach and park facilities.
Entry forms are available at the zoo or participants can mail names to “Name the Freeway Foxes” c/o Orange County Zoo, Irvine Regional Park, 21501 Chapman Ave., Orange, Calif. 92669.
Participants can enter as many times as they wish, but employees of the county harbors, beaches and parks division are ineligible. Deadline is July 15.
The two foxes were part of a family of foxes left homeless because of an expansion of the Costa Mesa Freeway. The public is invited to see the pups at the zoo, which is open year-round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more contest information, call (714) 567-6206.
