Daniel P. Garcia, a lawyer and lobbyist with close political ties to Mayor Tom Bradley, has been appointed senior vice president for real estate planning and public affairs at Warner Bros., the firm announced Tuesday.

Garcia, a member of the Los Angeles law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olsen, has been active in community and civic affairs, serving as president of the city Planning Commission for 10 years from 1978 through 1988.

Bradley appointed Garcia to the Police Commission last October. Garcia resigned as president of the commission in early May, saying that the integrity of the panel had been “severly damaged” by a dispute with the City Council over Police Chief Daryl F. Gates in the aftermath of the police beating of Altadena motorist Rodney G. King.
