Some Fares Raised on Santa Monica Buses
The Santa Monica City Council has voted to raise some fares on the Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines, effective July 1.
The last fare increase occurred in 1983.
Local fares will remain at 50 cents, and 45 cents if bought in sets of 10. Local fares for seniors (ages 62 and older) will rise to 25 cents from 20 cents.
Freeway express fares to downtown Los Angeles are going from 80 cents to $1.25. The same trip for seniors is going from 40 cents to 60 cents.
Rates for high school students will rise from 20 cents to 25 cents, when purchased in sets of 10, and rates for college students who are 21 and under will rise from 35 cents to 40 cents.
