Francis Everette Lord; Pioneered Special Education

Francis Everette Lord, 89, a pioneer in special education and former national president of the Council for Exceptional Children. Born and educated in the Midwest, Lord taught at Eastern Michigan University from 1926 to 1953. He headed its department of special education for 13 years. He moved to California to help establish and chair a similar department at Cal State Los Angeles. After his retirement in 1969, Lord taught for 10 years at the University of Arizona. On June 13 in Rancho Bernardo.
