Thieves Kill Man Outside His Home
Thieves attacked a Linda Vista man and his wife in front of their residence early Saturday, fatally shooting the husband, authorities said.
The victim, who lived in the 1500 block of Regulus Street, was identified as Vinh Nguyen, 52, authorities said.
The attackers, who may have been following the couple as they drove in the neighborhood, got out of a vehicle and accosted the two on the street about 6:10 a.m. as the couple were getting out of their car and heading inside their home. The driver of the assailants’ vehicle remained in the car.
One thief grabbed the wife’s purse while the other two attacked the husband, police said.
The wounded man was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Robbery was the apparent motive, police said.
The four suspects were described only as of Indochinese descent and in their early 20s.
