Brothers Gabriel and Rafael Ruelas of Arleta, both in line for possible world title fights later this year, will fight in scheduled 10-round bouts tonight at the Country Club in Reseda.

Gabriel, 20, will be making only his second appearance since he suffered a broken right elbow during a bout in April of 1990. After two operations, he came back June 1 at Palm Springs and hammered out a 10-round unanimous decision over Pedro Mendoza of Mexico.

Dan Goossen, president of Ten Goose Boxing in Van Nuys and manager of the brothers, said Gabriel (22-1) will fight in November against either Joey Gamache of New York for the vacant World Boxing Assn. junior-lightweight title or against International Boxing Federation junior-lightweight champion Tony Lopez of Sacramento.

In tonight’s bout, Gabriel will take on Fili Montoya (16-6-1) of Mexicali.

Rafael, 19, is 26-0 with 22 knockouts. He compiled that record in the featherweight division but now fights in the 135-pound lightweight division. He will box Narcizo Valenzuela (31-7-1, 23 knockouts) in tonight’s co-main event.

Rafael, according to Goossen, might get a shot at undisputed lightweight champion Pernell Whitaker, also in November.

In other bouts, middleweight Frank Liles (19-0), who trained at the famed Kronk Gym in Detroit before signing with Ten Goose early this year, will fight journeyman Rollin Williams (20-13-1) in a scheduled eight-round bout, and middleweight Joey DeGrandis, a two-time New England Golden Gloves champion with a pro record of 8-1, will fight Charles Wilson (4-3) in a four-rounder.

The card begins at 7:30, television coverage on Channel 13 at 8.
