Two Navy fliers from Miramar Naval Air Station suffered minor injuries over the weekend when their F-14 fighter collided in midair with another F-14 about 150 miles off the Malaysian coast.

Navy officials said the two airmen ejected from their damaged jet and were plucked out of the ocean by a rescue helicopter. Their $34-million aircraft was lost, but the other plane involved in the accident landed safely in Singapore.

Both jets were assigned to Fighter Squadron 213, “The Black Lions,” and were operating from the carrier Abraham Lincoln. The downed pilots were treated aboard the carrier for minor injuries.
