2 Men Dead in Separate Attacks
Two people were killed in San Diego on Saturday, adding to the city’s record homicide pace.
Police found Roosevelt Daniels, 49, who had been stabbed several times in his upper body, about 1 p.m. in the 3800 block of Arnold Avenue. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police were holding Charles McMurtery, 21, for questioning. McMurtery told police he and Daniels were fighting, officials said.
About half an hour after police found Daniels, David C. Brown, 36, was shot to death in an apparent robbery attempt, police said. Brown was driving a cab and had stopped in the 3000 block of Imperial Avenue to wait for a fare to return when he was approached by three men demanding money. Brown was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died of a gunshot wound to the upper body.
According to police statistics, the intersection of 30th Street and Imperial Avenue is one of the most dangerous in the city.
