OXNARD : 2 Banks Robbed in 2-Hour Period
Two Oxnard banks were robbed within a two-hour period Friday afternoon, police said.
American Savings Bank, 560 S. A St., was robbed of an undetermined amount of money at 1:45 p.m. A man wearing a light-colored hat and sunglasses and carrying a beige jacket gave a note to a teller saying he had a gun and demanding money, according to an Oxnard police report.
Witnesses described the robber as a 5-foot-7 man, about 160 pounds, and clean-shaven except for a 5 o’clock shadow, the statement said.
At 3:05 p.m., a man robbed the Bank of A. Levy at 1830 S. Victoria Ave. of an undetermined amount of cash. That man also handed a note to a teller saying he was armed and demanding money, according to a second police statement.
That robber was described as 20 to 30 years of age, and from 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was wearing a green baseball hat and dark glasses.
The FBI is working with Oxnard police in the investigation.
An FBI agent said he did not know whether investigators were pursuing a possibility that the robberies were related.
