HOLLYWOOD PARK : Brought To Mind Heads Field for the Vanity

Brought To Mind, winner of two stakes at the Hollywood Park meeting, heads a six-horse field Sunday in the $200,000 Vanity Handicap.

The field will include three of the horses Brought To Mind beat in the Milady Handicap on June 15.

Back for another try against the 4-year-old gray filly will be Luna Elegante and Vieille Vigne, who ran 2-3 in the Milady, and Fit To Scout, who was sixth.

Brought To Mind also won the Hawthorne Handicap on May 18.

The field for the 1 1/8-mile Vanity, in post-position order, with jockeys and weights:

Gaelic Bird, Gary Stevens, 114 pounds; Vieille Vigne, Laffit Pincay Jr., 115; Brought To Mind, Pat Valenzuela, 120; Luna Elegante, David Flores, 114; Fit To Scout, Julio Garcia, 115, and Summer Matinee, Chris McCarron, 112.

Horse Racing Notes

Because of the state sales tax on newspapers that begins next week, the price of the Daily Racing Form and the Thoroughbred Times at Hollywood Park will be $2.75. Both papers still have a cover price of $2.50. . . . Santa Anita estimates that its damage from the earthquake on June 28 totaled $250,000. The track will be open for satellite betting on the Del Mar season that opens July 24.

Exbourne, who won the Hollywood Turf Handicap and finished second to Tight Spot in the American Handicap, is scheduled to run in the Caesars International Handicap a week from Sunday.
