Police Shoot Man Implicated in Stabbing
Two Los Angeles police officers shot a man they saw stabbing a woman on the Golden State Freeway in Glendale, perhaps following a traffic accident Monday night, police said.
The shooting and stabbing victims, not identified, were hospitalized in unknown condition, police said.
Two Devonshire Division officers were en route to their station from downtown Los Angeles about 8:30 p.m. when they saw the attack at the Western Avenue exit of the northbound Golden State Freeway, Police Lt. Frank Malan said.
“They saw this happen and took action,” he said.
The shooting victim was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and the stabbing victim to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, Malan said. California Highway Patrol officers said the stabbing victim was conscious when they arrived, Malan said.
Glendale police are coordinating the investigation with the CHP and Los Angeles police, who will investigate the shooting, Malan said.
