Guns Found on Dead Man Had Been Stolen

Two guns found with a man shot to death by sheriff’s deputies earlier this week were stolen in separate residential burglaries in the Antelope Valley, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

A shotgun and a .357 magnum revolver were found in the truck that had been stolen by Ronald Lee Carson, 23, of Las Vegas, sheriff’s spokeswoman Mary Landreth said. An investigation traced the guns back to two Antelope Valley burglaries.

Deputies also recovered an Uzi carbine believed stolen in a burglary in San Bernardino County, Landreth said.

Carson was fatally shot early Monday when he aimed a rifle at deputies who surrounded him at the drive-through service window of a Lancaster fast-food restaurant, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The deputies were hunting for Carson after security guards at a supermarket saw him loading the Uzi in a parking lot, and a check of the license plate number revealed that the truck had been stolen.
