An unidentified girl was shot Wednesday as she stood talking with three boys on a sidewalk in what police described as a gang-related drive-by shooting.

The four youths, whose names were being withheld because of their ages, were standing in front of a friend’s house in the 600 block of East North Street about 4:25 p.m. when they were fired at from a car carrying at least three males, police and witnesses said.

The girl was treated at Anaheim Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound in the leg and released, authorities said.

A 15-year-old witness to the shooting said she was standing on her porch when the shots rang out.

“This car pulled up and someone asked, ‘What gang are you from?’ and then they fired three shots,” she said. “It was so fast I couldn’t see their faces.”

After the girl was shot, the car “just took off, and we brought her inside,” she added. “She was just all nervous, really shocked. All she said was, ‘I’ve been shot.’ ”

Police described the car used in the shooting as a late-model red Camaro but did not have specific descriptions of the assailants.
