PIRU : Arson Blamed in Brush Fire

A brush fire set by an arsonist burned 50 acres south of Piru Saturday, Ventura County fire investigators said.
The fire started just off Guiberson Road, between Wiley Canyon and Torrey Canyon roads about 3 p.m. Fanned by the wind, it burned up Torrey Canyon and came within 800 feet of Unocal’s Santa Clara gasoline processing plant.
Firefighters contained the fire at a ridge overlooking the plant at 6:30 p.m.
