COSTA MESA : Possible Shock Cited in Drowning
A 16-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a pool Tuesday night, and police said a short-circuited underwater lighting wire may have been the cause.
Ralph Solano of Costa Mesa died while swimming in a pool at Harbor Villa Apartments, at 2621 Harbor Blvd., at 8:30 p.m., Sgt. Matt Collett said. He was visiting a friend, police said.
Solano was apparently swimming near the underwater light and may have meen shocked by electric current, police said.
Tenants at the apartment complex said the pool was recently refinished with new lights installed and reopened.
