But These Announcers Belong in Hall of Shame

It was with delight that we read in Larry Stewart’s column a while back that Dick Vitale was not going to be the announcer for the playoff game in the college basketball tournament.

Now we are wondering what could be done to eliminate John Madden from doing the football games? They both sound as though they are broadcasting the burning of the Hindenburg. We find them so annoying that we can’t figure out why they are used at all. Thank goodness for a remote control! And we do cut their sound off and just watch.

While we are eliminating announcers, how about including Bud Collins from the tennis telecasts? He is a disgrace to the Americans who participate. He needs first of all to shave and then get a decent haircut. Once that is accomplished, we could present him with a muzzle. He talks entirely too much during the match and is so sarcastic at times. Let’s put Jimmy Connors in his place. He does a great job.
