The Inner Game of Golf Addiction

Share

Roberta Coffey’s article on golf as an addiction (“In the Rough,” July 23) informs us that golf is played avidly by many who are avoiding their family responsibilities, covering up for alcoholism or refusing to deal with their real problems.

As an avid golfer who has sent his daughter off to college, doesn’t take a drink at the 19th hole and deals with his real problems all the time, I have a simple solution: Anyone who has children at home, consumes alcoholic beverages or hasn’t figured everything out yet should be banned from golf.

That way there will be more room on the courses for those of us who are childless teetotalers without a care in the world.
