A 91-year-old woman remained hospitalized Monday after being beaten during a robbery in her Bonsall home, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Ellen Kerrison was in critical condition with facial and internal injuries at Palomar Medical Center after the Sunday night attack, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call about 5 p.m. Sunday found Kerrison lying on the bedroom floor of her home in the 5800 block of Redondo Drive, Sheriff’s Sgt. Kate Nolan said.
Kerrison was surprised by two men who forced their way into her home, Nolan said. After striking her repeatedly with an unknown object, Kerrison’s assailants made a hasty retreat in a light-colored, older pickup truck, Nolan said.
Neighbors told deputies they saw the pickup speeding east on Redondo Drive. No suspects were in custody Monday.
