A transient was stabbed to death by another transient Wednesday during an argument over a blanket.

Felton Davis, 44, began arguing with another transient on a sidewalk in the 1900 block of Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica at 5:30 p.m., Lt. Stan Conger said. The man stabbed Davis with a knife after Davis punched him in the face, he said. Davis staggered down the street before collapsing in a planter box. He was taken to Santa Monica Hospital, where he died, police said.

The suspect, who remains at large, walked westbound on Pico Boulevard with another transient not involved in the fight.
