The U.S. Small Business Administration will open a new office in Arcadia on Monday to process loan applications for repairing buildings damaged in the June 28 Sierra Madre earthquake.
The office, at 657 W. Duarte Road in Arcadia, will be open until Sept. 9, the deadline for applying for low-interest federal loans.
The new location, replacing temporary loan offices now closed in Arcadia and Pasadena, will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
William E. Leggiero Jr., a Small Business Administration spokesman, said loan applicants should complete their paperwork as soon as possible, because checks are being issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
He said that 661 people have applied for assistance and that an estimated 70% will be eligible.
