Failing a Road Test
Let me get this straight. Rep. Christopher Cox (R-Newport Beach) is a member of the surface transportation subcommittee of the House Committee on Public Works on Transportation (“Toll Roads for O.C. Gain Some Ground in House,” July 24). And the subcommittee has moved to exempt the San Joaquin Hills, Foothill and Eastern toll road corridors from a federal law restricting highway construction through parklands. And Cox claims he didn’t know the exemption was included in the bill he supported--because he hadn’t read the provisions.
