BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Strawberry Picks Up the Pace, but . . .

Share

Darryl Strawberry’s home run in the fourth inning Sunday gave him seven homers in his last 58 at-bats. It took him 40 at-bats to get his first homer this season.

Strawberry was asked if the struggling Dodgers have begun waiting for Strawberry to hit homers.

“I sure hope not,” Strawberry said. “That’s not how you win. Everybody has to be productive as a group, you can’t wait for one guy to do it.”

As Strawberry continues to hit well--he is batting .329 in his last 20 games--Eddie Murray has only three hits in his last 30 at-bats. Juan Samuel is batting .207 in his last nine games after batting .221 in July.

The Dodger bullpen was 0-3 against Houston . . . The Dodgers have blown leads in six of their last eight losses.
