From Times Staff and Wire Reports

For the second time this summer, a Stanford University faculty member has expressed embarrassment for failing to credit someone else for material used in a book. “It was indeed an oversight on my part and I feel terrible about the slip-up,” engineering professor William Tiller wrote in a letter of apology to former student Robert Bruce Beyers, who received his doctorate from Stanford in 1989 and is an IBM researcher. The uncredited material appeared in Tiller’s recently published book, “The Science of Crystallization: Microscopic Interfacial Phenomena.”
