In a battle of Pacific 10 Conference golfers, Amy Fruhwirth defeated Heidi Voorhees, 5 and 4, Saturday to win the 1991 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club.

Fruhwirth, who earned medalist honors during stroke-play qualifying earlier in the week, enjoyed a lead of 3-up after 18 holes in the morning.

She then birdied four holes in succession in the afternoon to take a commanding lead, and the match concluded on the 32nd hole of the match.
