Scratch PGA champion John Daly from the Indianapolis Colts’ roster. General Manager Jim Irsay vetoed plans for professional golf’s longest hitter to kick during an exhibition game with New Orleans on Saturday night.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to take the future Jack Nicklaus and open him up to possible injury,” Irsay said.

Daly, who kicked in high school, had been invited by Indianapolis Coach Ron Meyer to join the Colts if he failed to make the cut at the International tournament at Castle Rock, Colo., this week.
