A 57-year-old Normal Heights man was fatally shot while in his van by a man he just had been talking to, police said Friday.

Henry Washington, 27, was found in his van in the Golden Hill area, dead of a gunshot wound to his upper body about 11:25 p.m. Thursday, San Diego Police Lt. Dan Berglund said.

Witnesses said Washington, who lived on the 2700 block of Monroe Avenue, was talking to two men in their mid-20s in the 2600 block of Broadway, Berglund said.

When the van started moving east on Broadway, a shot was fired by one of the two and, as the vehicle accelerated, another shot was fired, Berglund said. The pair then reportedly walked away.

The van continued weaving down the street, sideswiping one car before stopping on the lawn of a residence where police found it, Berglund said. Police said they know no motive and have no suspects.
